AI literacy · K–12 · Term 1

AI Lessons at a glance

The first five weeks of the school’s K–12 AI literacy program, which I lead as the AI lead: 23 September to 26 October 2026. The figures count its Grades 6–12 lessons on the AI Lessons site – students learning how AI works, how to build with it and how to judge it.

98%took part

629 of 639 students in Grades 6–12 have taken part in at least one lesson.

  • 27,357first-try scores: each activity’s first attempt, kept as it was – the evidence of what a student could do
  • 302 hoursof active learning, counted only while a lesson is in use
  • 1,350lessons started by students
  • 28lessons taught so far
  • 20teachers teaching them
  • 15classes in Grades 6–12
  • 21staff using the dashboards, on 112 staff-days

One course, built up grade by grade: each year returns to the same four strands at greater depth.

In five languages

  • Englishall lessons
  • РусскийRussian
  • 한국어Korean
  • 日本語Japanese
  • 中文Chinese

Home-language versions for students still learning English: the words change; the activities, answers and scores stay the same.

Four strands, every grade

  • How AI worksHow models learn from data, and why they can be confidently wrong.
  • Design & buildPlanning, prompting, testing and improving an AI workflow.
  • JudgmentJudging outputs as correct, incorrect or unclear, with criteria.
  • Ethics & governanceBias, privacy, attribution and who answers for an AI system.

How the evidence travels

  1. 1A student does the lesson on any device
  2. 2Their first try and time are saved
  3. 3Their teacher sees who needs a nudge
  4. 4Leaders see every class and strand
